Agricultural Education: Graduate Internship Reports

This internship and project report includes validation documents required in meeting the quality criteria for secondary-level programs of instruction in agriculture. The documents are concurrently used for the Agriculture Incentive Grant review process at Pleasant Grove High School conducted by representatives of the California Department of Education. The internship includes the development of a conclusive Program of Activities for the Elk Grove-Pleasant Grove FFA Chapter. The supporting material includes a completed copy of the Elk Grove-Pleasant Grove FFA Chapter's Program of Activities for the 2013-2014 school year.

The purpose of this project was to create an instructional booklet that would act as a supplement for high school floral design students and instructors as they created the five Western Line design styles. The booklet includes high-quality photographs and step-by-step instructions on how to construct each of the Western Line designs (vertical, horizontal, formal, informal and l-shape). It also includes a profile for each arrangement and a list of materials that are needed to create each design. Nearly 52% of the 72,445 [state] students enrolled in agricultural education are Hispanic. However, when many of these programs participate in leadership development activities beyond the local level, the diversity of their participants fails to mirror that of their enrollment. Many teachers are at a loss as to what they can do to cultivate the talent of these students.
