The modern goal of home economics education is a curriculum centered about the family as it lives, works, and plays in a time of rapid social, economic, scientific, and world change. Many schools present home economics as cooking and sewing. It seems evident that home economics education, to meet needs in today's families and prepare young people for assuming responsibilities as future homemakers, must plan programs of greater depth and breadth than those of the past.
