A modified Thematic Apperception Test [TAT] was administered to undergraduate students to assess dissonance, remorse and regret with their college choice. Results indicate a “roller coaster” affect associated with overall customer satisfaction. The SCREAM model is provided to assist marketing and enrollment managers in their retention efforts.

Community officials offer an array of incentives to stimulate local business growth, unaware of the salient criteria that determine location decisions. An analysis of proprietary research reports and site selector feasibility studies indicates specific criteria that are universally evaluated, nine of which undermine economic development initiatives. An ‘ACTION’ plan is provided to assist city planners’ efforts in appealing to site selection professionals.

Through the case method and Socratic dialogue, first year law students are taught to develop critical legal analytic skills–to “think like a lawyer.” Those skills, however, are primarily, if not entirely, intellectual. This article discusses the need to address emotional issues in educating law students. Unlike other articles, my article does not merely urge professors to raise such issues in their classes and discuss them analytically. Rather, I want students to actually experience emotion in the classroom setting as they discuss various fact situations and the legal principles involved in the resolution of disputes involving those facts. My move to Harvard Law was an exciting, but sometimes frustrating transition. The law school community was large and anonymous, the famous Bauhaus dormitories (designed by Walter Gropius) part Habitrail and part shoebox factory, the eyes of campus administrators a baleful gray. I had come with a bachelor's degree in English (English!) from a west coast univer-sity that called itself “the Farm,” a campus known for fragrant eucalyptus and a pride of lion-colored hills. Harvard Law was certainly no “Farm,” and to my eye it was no “Hundred-Acre Wood” either. Whimsy? Forget it. . . .

Achievement goal theory has emerged as a dominant paradigm for understanding student motivation. However, its focus on mastery and performance goals as central constructs has led to a neglect of the role of social goals in motivating students. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different kinds of social goals (social affiliation and social concern goals) on various types of educational outcomes. Results indicate that even after controlling for the effects of the oft-examined mastery and performance goals, social goals were still able to predict additional variance in the outcomes of interest. • This report explores the proposition that teaching effectiveness can be enhanced by accommodating the key differences between two complementary and deeply engrained modes of reality testing, each predominantly centered in different hemispheres of the brain. • (1) Correspondence involves “reality-testing” of a percept, the cerebral representation of an experience in the world. • (2) Coherence involves “textualizing”, that is, reality-testing of a percept by how easily it relates to previous and ongoing parallel and collateral experiences. • Confidence in the validity of any percept throughout development is related to the interplay of these key processes. • As organisms develop, …

Epidemiological studies suggest that young people might have a tendency to avoid help when they experience symptoms of psychological distress. There is growing evidence that many young people prefer no help from anyone for their mental health problems. The current study examined the association between symptoms of general psychological distress and intentions to seek help from friends, family and professional mental health sources in a sample of 109 trade (TAFE) students from regional and rural Australia. Previous researches have demonstrated that meaning of life has an essential role in human’s life. It is believed that meaning of life is an important issue in matrimony. However, there is a gap in literature to explain any relationship between meaning of life and marital communication. Purpose in Life Test (PIL), logo therapy, and Marital Communication of ENRICH were administered to fifty seven married spouses. The findings indicated the reliability of the employed instruments. In addition, the results highlighted a significant relationship between marital communication and meaning of life.

The main goal of this study is to determine whether SI-G training is able to help increase SQ. The present experimental study examined the effect of SI-G training on spiritual intelligence among Iranian students in Imam Khomeini School situated in Kuala Lumpur. This study has evaluated the effect of SI-G training program regarding the increasing SQ and its subscales. It evaluates the follow up test and the sustainability of the training program. Help-negation is expressed behaviorally by the refusal or avoidance of available help and cognitively by the inverse relationship between self-reported symptoms of psychological distress and help-seeking intentions. The current study is part of a larger multi-cite research program developed and led by the first author. It examines the association between suicidal ideation and intentions to seek help from friends, family and professional mental health sources in a sample of 302 Australian university students. This paper focuses on the theoretical foundation of second language (L2) learning motivation from a Vygotskian Activity Theory (AT) perspective. In general, previous L2 motivation research adopted either psychometric or sociological approaches, which have not fully considered the mediational process between individual learners and their meaningful environments. Since L2 motivation reflects learners’ histories and sociocultural contexts, it is crucial to approach this from an AT perspective. The objective of this study was to examine the reliability and construct validity of the Short Version of the Academic Emotions Questionnaire for Filipinos (S-AEQ-F) which is an adaptation of the Academic Emotions Questionnaire (AEQ; Pekrun, Goetz, & Perry, 2005). The S-AEQ-F measures eight discrete academic emotions in the learning context: anger, anxiety, boredom, enjoyment, hope, hopelessness, pride, and shame. Filipino high school students (N = 1,121) completed the S-AEQ-F.
