With the widespread use of technology in the assessment field, many testing programs use both computer-based tests (CBTs) and paper-and-pencil tests (PPTs). Both the Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (AERA, APA, & NCME, 2014) and the International Guidelines on Computer-Based and Internet Delivered Testing (International Test Commission, 2005) have called for studies on the equivalence of scores from different modes to support the uses and interpretations of scores across modes. The purpose of the study was to identify the effectiveness of an online suicide prevention gatekeeper training at the University of Iowa compared to previous research, other gatekeeper trainings, and to assess differences between faculty and staff trainees. Participants were faculty, staff, and students at the University of Iowa that completed the Kognito College Students or the Kognito Faculty and Staff module. Psychologists now use and interact with a mélange of technology for client care, including (but not limited to) email (Delsignore et al., 2016; Eysenbach, 2000), text messaging (Bradley & Hendricks, 2009; Elhai & Frueh, 2016), electronic medical records (Harrison & Palacio, 2006; Steinfeld & Keyes, 2011), telemental health/televideo (Richardson, Frueh, Grubaugh, Egede, & Elhai, 2012), and digital assessments (Jellins, 2015; Pearson Education Inc., 2015b). An Evaluation Of Changes In Parent Interaction Quality As An Indirect Effect Of Functional Communication Training, Anna Day Ryan

Previous research has suggested that increases caregiver interaction quality may lead to subsequent reductions in child problem behavior. However, there is little research evaluating whether successful reductions in problem behavior through behavioral treatment may positively impact the caregiver-child relationship. The purpose of the current study was to determine whether successful implementation of an empirically validated, reinforcement based-treatment for children who display challenging behaviors (functional communication training, or FCT) leads to changes in caregiver interaction quality. A retrospective data analysis was conducted using assessment and treatment sessions conducted via telehealth for a federally funded research project (Lindgren & Wacker, 2011). Five caregiver-child dyads were included in the current study, and caregivers conducted all sessions while being coached on behavioral procedures via telehealth by a trained behavior specialist. No caregiver received any direct training intended to improve or modify caregiver-child interactions during playtime. Appropriate and inappropriate interactive caregiver behaviors were recorded throughout all playtime intervals during assessment and treatment. Orofacial clefts are a group of congenital craniofacial deformities characterized by structural defects within and around the oral cavity. While some orofacial clefts are associated with an identifiable genetic or teratogenic syndrome, most are isolated or nonsyndromic. Function-based experimental evaluation in the development of interventions and treatment plans continue to be under-utilized within the school setting (Hanley, Iwata, & McCord, 2003) despite federal mandates to use functional behavioral assessments and positive behavioral interventions with students with disabilities (IDEIA, 2004). Gann, Ferro, Umbreit, & Liaupsin, (2014) found that teachers prefer function-based interventions based in Applied Behavior Analytic principles when implemented effectively and with fidelity, over traditional classroom practices. As such, data collection and data analysis is critical to promote valid, reliable, and socially acceptable behavior change. Some researchers have advocated for the use of advanced technological or computerized tools to streamline and systematize data collection for wider-spread use (Vollmer, Sloman & Pipken, 2008; Kahng & Iwata, 1998), but there is little in the literature to suggest what might be the most beneficial data collection modalities and methods for school professionals who work with students who exhibit challenging behaviors. A few studies have shown positive effects of using electronic technology to collect behavioral data by researchers collecting direct observation data (Graylee et al, 2006), and measures of social skills development (Sarkar et.al, 2006) as well as teachers implementing discrete trial training (Tarbox et al, 2010). Hunter (2003) found that teachers were more likely to use interventions that they liked and that were subjectively time-efficient; often, convenience and experience factors played a role in resistance to implementing evidence-based interventions (Hunter, 2003).

Two approaches have been developed to design an optimal CAT pool: the linear programming method (LP; Veldkamp & van der Linden, 2000, 2010) and the bin-and-union method (BU; Reckase, 2003, 2010). There has been a wealth of research conducted on the high school dropouts spanning several decades. It is estimated that compared with those who complete high school, the average high school dropout costs the economy approximately $250,000 more over his or her lifetime in terms of lower tax contributions, higher reliance on Medicaid and Medicare, higher rates of criminal activity, and higher reliance on welfare (Levin & Belfield, 2007). The nation suffers not only because of the loss in revenue but also as a result of the education level of the population. Individuals who choose to drop out of high school are less likely to be in the labor force than adults who earned a high school credential, and they fare worse in many aspects of life.

In many studies on high school dropouts, an important challenge is how to determine an appropriate structural form for a statistical model to be used in making inferences and predictions. The purpose of this qualitative study was to understand the meaning of formerly homeless Veteran’s male relationships to better understand their participation in intervention programs relying on interpersonal support. This dissertation describes a qualitative study that explored the perceived barriers to reporting military sexual assaults that servicewomen experienced following a sexual assault while on active duty. The study aimed to answer the following research questions: (1) What barriers to reporting did servicewomen who survived sexual assault in a military setting perceive?; (2) What role did betrayal (the act of going against a promise) play in their decision? Dimensionality assessment provides test developers and users with a better understanding of how test scores make human abilities concrete. Issues dealt with by dimensionality assessment include, but are not restricted to, (a) whether unidimensionality holds; (b) the number of dimensions influencing test scores; and (c) the relationships among items, among underlying dimensions, and between items and dimensions. Results from dimensionality assessment allow test developers and users to carefully validate specific interpretations and uses of test scores.
