This paper presents the use of a combination of pedagogical strategies in teaching a large undergraduate technology integration course. Course revisions include a motivating game-based learning structure, practitioner-focused design, and the flipped classroom model. Students perceived each course change positively with suggestions for refinement.

As demand for engineers grows, emphasis is increasingly placed on introductory engineering courses to engage, educate, and retain students. Team-Based Learning (TBL) is a pedagogy that shifts instruction from a lecture-based paradigm to a structured learning sequence that includes individual preparation outside of class followed by active, in-class problemsolving exercises completed by student teams. As part of the individual preparation, students may watch recorded videos of lectures, often at an accelerated speed. Extension systems are experimenting with new models for conducting professional development to enhance staff competence and other returns on professional development investments. The ISUEO virtual annual conference provides a successful flipped classroom model of asynchronous and synchronous learning events for conducting an Extension annual conference. The lessons learned and emerging promising practices from our experiment will help Extension systems better meet the professional development needs of today's Extension workers by providing new learning models and technology they can incorporate into their practice.
