Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is a paradigm shift in the versatility of the aviation industry. The obvious benefits of this platform will revolutionize a variety of aspects of the industry. One of the aspects in which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has recommended research is the effectiveness of the traditional educational methods. Spurred by the COVID-19 pandemic, online teaching methodologies have become widely accepted in aviation. In addition, the format of traditional, instructor-led courses have also changed. Compressed schedules (accelerated courses) have become an additional option in some programs.

Although we seek to be more universal in our offerings, libraries DEIA work still centers on simply event programming and collection development.

To talk about meaningful DEIA work today however is acknowledging that true advancement goes beyond events and artifacts. We must evolve this approach to where DEIA values drive our professional development through (1) critical librarianship (2) outreach and (3) responsive evaluation.

ICOT 18 - International Conference on Thinking - Cultivating Mindsets for Global Citizens

This session addresses the ICOT question, "How do we develop mindfulness and thinking dispositions to learn?" The presenters detail three models involving questioning and prompting strategies to elicit specific types of thinking and learning responses: closed and open questioning, questions to elicit metacognitive responses, and the Paideia Seminar model. Attendees will learn about each model, engage in exercises with each model, and receive tasks they can use in their classrooms.
