Industry standards have a significant impact on business as a means to eliminate waste, reduce costs, market products (e.g., for quality, safety, interoperability) and lessen liability (Thompson, 2011). Consequently, an understanding of and ability to use standards, agreed upon practices among interested or vested parties, is a critical workplace competency for those engaged in business and industry. To have a workforce competent in the use of standards, higher education curricula must be developed to integrate standards education at appropriate points within the curriculum. Raising Leaders: Parental Leadership Modeling And Parental Attachment, M. Shane Stillman

The objective of this research was to determine to what extent parental leadership modeling and parental attachment relate to leader courage, self-esteem, and emotional intelligence? Participants (29 men and 21 women) were selected from varying backgrounds and experiences to measure the effects of parental modeling and attachment as a matter of a leader’s life-story. Survey instruments included the MLQ-5X, RAAS, PCMS-15, RSES, and WLEIS-16. Results were analyzed using multiple regression and descriptive statistics. Photo-voice is rapidly becoming a popular and accepted research method in the social sciences (Holm, 2008). Developed by Wang and Burris (1994), Photo-voice is a participatory method through which research participants identify and represent their lived experiences and contexts through the use of photo imagery. This session highlights graduate outreach services at the University of Central Florida and Clemson University libraries and compares institutional program approaches, outreach strategies, and the research needs of student populations in the Social Sciences and Engineering.
