"Here we seek to illuminate some important nuances and articulations surrounding the challenges that face us as dissident intellectuals at this particular historical conjuncture and to explore ways in which the public intellectual can be reconceptualized and revitalized in revolutionary terms. This fits well with our goal for this essay— which intends to serve as a countervailing riposte to the role of the free- market intellectual and to insist on a materialist and indigenist recentering of the role of the intellectual in today’s social order."

This chapter explores the dynamic between truth and deceit in twenty-first-century transnational capitalism, emerging neo-fascist movements, and post-truth media landscapes marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and the anthropogenic bioinformational challenge. It establishes the centrality of the concept of truth in revolutionary critical pedagogy and underscores the importance of linking true words with true actions in the formation of critical praxis. Revolutionary praxis consists of the dialectical process of self and social formation, while critical educators are situated as protagonistic agents who work in and through history. Truth is therefore not about a timeless or objective state we name history. Action …

"This chapter unpacks the complex topics of school violence, school safety, and school climate as they apply to modern schools. Relevant models will be discussed that have been used by schools and communities to fashion safe and supportive learning environments, specifically in an effort to foster welcoming school campuses and thriving student development. The following sections provide an overview of the interaction of school safety and school climate and how these constructs are directly linked to student mental and emotional well-being. "[A]n examination of racial diversity in higher education requires serious consideration of space... [A] spatial perspective offers a lens for locating and examining processes of racialization. And a spatial approach also provides a language participants and researchers can use to talk about the discreet ways race still operates in everyday interactions, including subtle forms of racism that are overlooked or ignored because race is often understood by students to matter less today. Essentially, a spatial approach sheds light on race relations and racial structures in tangible campus environments."

"On May 23, 2008, farmworkers and student activists gathered with corporate executives, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders (Vermont), and dozens of members of the local and national media for a standing room-only press conference under the dome of the U.S. Capitol announcing an accord between the Burger King fast food corporation and a Florida farmworker organization, the Coalition of lmmokalee Workers (CIW).
