The primary goal of the Peer Mentoring Guide is to develop fourth year medical students (MS-4s) into mentors for first year medical students (MS-1s). The purpose of this resource is to provide others who want to develop a peer mentoring program as part of an advanced students-as-teachers curriculum.

The George Washington University was one of the first schools to have a program to prepare medical students for their teaching role as residents and practicing physicians, which was called TALKS (Teaching and Learning Knowledge and Skills). Video offers a wide range of benefits a useful teaching tool, and librarians are using it to make all kinds of information available. I have created two series of videos at my university library concerning library and research skills: one for undergraduates and the other for graduates. This past year, I undertook four studies to determine whether students use the videos and under what circumstances.

P.A.C.E. (Physical Activity/Tennis and Character/Health/Nutrition Education) is a service-learning project funded by Tennis Serves.  This poster details how PACE has excelled at “growing the game of tennis” since 2009 by teaching over 3,409 minority, disadvantaged youth in Akron, Ohio. Quantitative and qualitative evidence gives support to the view that PACE is one of the best of its kind in the nation.
