Rapid Transition Of A Technical Course From Face-To-Face To Online, Swapna Gottipatti, Venky Shankaraman
Research Collection School Of Computing and Information Systems
Just like most universities around the world, the senior management at Singapore Management University decided to move all courses to a virtual, online, synchronous mode, giving instructors a very short notice period—one week—to make this transition. In this paper, we describe the challenges, practical solutions adopted, and the lessons learnt in rapidly transitioning a face-to-face Master’s degree course in Text Analytics and Applications into a virtual, online, course format that could deliver a quality learning experience.

Dear students, faculty and staff,
Well, it certainly has been an unusual year. They say that every cloud has a silver lining. The silver lining for me in all that we have fought through this semester is YOU. This year has reinforced in a big way what I already knew about you—you care about others and SHU’s mission and values; you are resilient and adaptable; you are creative and find new ways to overcome challenges; you are hard-working and determined in the face of adversity; you are Pioneers in every sense of the word. And, when I say ...

Needs Assessment Of Podcast Use For Professional Development And Lifelong Learning In Crnas, Sydney Loesing
DNP Final Project Depository
In the rapidly evolving world of medical education and content, professional development is not just a choice, it is an obligation. Despite the rising popularity of podcast use over the last 10 years, there is still little-known if they effectively meet the needs of professional development and lifelong learning for anesthesia experts, specifically CRNAs. A needs assessment was performed to determine if anesthesia-focused podcasts are a valuable component to professional development and lifelong learning. The needs assessment survey encompassed 14 questions that looked at participant demographics, overall outlooks and preferences on current anesthesia-focused podcasts, desired modes of professional development, and ...

Residents in rural Kentucky (KY) and suburban Ohio (OH) expressed concerns about radon exposure and lung cancer. Although 85% of lung cancer cases are caused by tobacco smoke, radon exposure accounts for 10–15% of lung cancer cases. Academic and community members from the University of KY and the University of Cincinnati developed and pilot-tested a family-centered, youth-engaged home radon testing toolkit. The radon toolkit included radon information, and how to test, interpret, and report back findings. We educated youth as citizen scientists and their teachers in human subjects protection and home radon testing using the toolkit in the classroom ...

University Briefings & Virtual Events
Since we communicated with you yesterday, we have a total of 34 new positive COVID-19 cases—25 on campus and nine off campus. We are also still receiving results from this week’s random asymptomatic testing. Because of this continued spike, we are moving our alert status to red. This decision was made after careful deliberations and discussion with state and local health officials about how best to contain the virus.
