Purpose: The amount of research on non-cognitive variables affecting motivation is limited in nursing students. By using Self-Determination Theory, faculty can determine what motivates students to learn which will allow the creation of a learning environment that promotes student achievement.

Purpose

Primary care patients experience high levels of adverse drug reactions due to inaccurate medication reconciliation practices. Project Aims

The project aims to improve medication reconciliation in a primary care setting. Outcome Measures

Outcomes measures include identified medication discrepancies, staff satisfaction related to the use of the MATCH tool, and patient age ranges and gender.

Methods

Little Milligan Elementary School in rural Carter County, Tennessee was provided with health literacy resources in the form of health education Go-Packs––easily implementable lessons contained in a small storage tote––as part of the community project requirement of the James H. Quillen College of Medicine Rural Primary Care Track Curriculum. These Go-Packs included detailed lesson plans and accompanying materials that were designed to facilitate health education in the classrooms by providing easily deployable lessons for the teachers to utilize.
