The purpose of this study was to formulate a methodological framework to incorporate indigenous knowledge systems into agricultural research and extension organizations for sustainable agricultural development in India. Indigenous knowledge systems (IKSs) were recorded using farmer participatory methods such as transecting, participant observations, and unstructured interactions. IKSs were classified into (a) decision making systems; (b) indigenous knowledge statements; and (c) indigenous technical practices. The purpose of this study was to explore the leadership practice of "enabling others to act" as defined by Kouzes and Posner. Data collected using the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) and assembled by James Kouzes and Barry Posner has consistently shown a significant difference between the leader scores on the LPI "self" and the subordinates scores on the LPI "observer". The purpose of this study was to assess the inservice educational needs of Iowa agricultural education instructors. The study was designed to assess possible delivery methods, location, content, and format of future programs as well as needs for curricular materials;For this study, the sample consisted of two hundred and six instructors drawn from a population of three hundred and twenty-six secondary and post-secondary agriculture instructors. This study was conducted to identify and analyze the perceptions of field officers, extension officers, and farmers regarding objectives, principles, teaching methods, teaching tools, and problems of Agricultural Extension Education in Swaziland;A sample of 50 field officers, 20 extension officers, and 50 farmers participated in this study. This dissertation is about the meaning and relevance, in today's world, of indigenous knowledge, and particularly the traditional cosmologies and sacred beliefs that underly this knowledge. The case of Vedic knowledge in Nepal is studied to illustrate traditional agriculture within a cosmological framework and to provide an holistic, indigenous perspective on development with emphasis on sustainable, indigenous approaches to agriculture and related sectors in Nepal.
