The Effects Of Caffeine On Performance Of Trained Cycling Athletes, Bradley Boester Dec 2020

The Effects Of Caffeine On Performance Of Trained Cycling Athletes, Bradley Boester

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Synthesis Projects

With many methods being used in cycling to gain an edge on the competition, researchers wanted to find the effects of caffeine on performance of trained cycling athletes. While most researchers realize that caffeine has an impact, further determining what ergogenic effects caffeine has, the process of caffeine methods, and comparing methods to other options lead to various studies on purpose of this study. Fifteen articles were found to be delimited enough to gain access to a vast amount of knowledge on types of caffeine cycling studies. Results showed that caffeine had a significant positive impact on time and power ...

The Effects Of Structured Physical Activity Programs For Gross Motor Development In Preschoolers., Matthew Farwell May 2020

The Effects Of Structured Physical Activity Programs For Gross Motor Development In Preschoolers., Matthew Farwell

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Synthesis Projects

The purpose of this synthesis was to review the literature on the effects of structured physical activity programs on the gross motor skills of preschooler. It was determined that the benefits of physical education for children in elementary school has been well-documented and include acquiring gross motor skills more rapidly as well as improved cognitive functioning. However, the benefit for preschoolers from organized physical activity or a motor program is not as prevalent in research and discussion. A structured motor program is defined as a motor planning program designed by an expert in Motor Development, Physical Education or Physical Activity ...

Factors To Consider In Preparing Adapted Physical Education Teachers To Teach In Urban Settings, Joanessa Fequiere May 2019

Factors To Consider In Preparing Adapted Physical Education Teachers To Teach In Urban Settings, Joanessa Fequiere

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Synthesis Projects

The purpose of this synthesis was to identify the various factors to consider in preparing adapted physical education teachers to teach in urban settings. The literature examined twelve articles that were chosen to be included in the critical mass. The following five research questions were answered: (a) what are the contextual factors and challenges that influence teaching in an urban setting? , (b) what are the unique concerns and challenges of adapted physical education teachers? (c) What are the teachers’ perspective regarding the challenges of teaching physical education in urban settings?, (d) what are the teachers’ attitudes and perspective on teaching ...

How Do Interventions Through The Self-Determination Theory Affect Middle And High School Student’S Participation In Physical Education Class?, Nicholas Droegmoeller Aug 2017

How Do Interventions Through The Self-Determination Theory Affect Middle And High School Student’S Participation In Physical Education Class?, Nicholas Droegmoeller

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Synthesis Projects

Abstract

Students today seem less likely to participate in physical education class because they are either disinterested, unmotivated, or are disengaged in the activity. At the secondary level, students’ disengagement in class may be due to lack of motivation. The self-determination theory has been used to help increase students’ motivation to participate in physical activity. The purpose of this synthesis research is to examine how middle and secondary students’ participation in physical education class is impacted by interventions based on the self-determination theory. It will include three different motivational conditions; psychological needs (competence, autonomy, and relatedness) in an autonomy support ...

The Effects Of Mental Imagery On Free Throw Performance, Lori Ansbach Eckert Aug 1989

The Effects Of Mental Imagery On Free Throw Performance, Lori Ansbach Eckert

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Master’s Theses

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mental imagery on free throw performance. The investigator used a pretest-posttest randomized group design consisting of three treatment groups and a control group. A total of 120 subjects were randomly assigned four groups. Subjects received either (1) mental practice, (2) physical practice, (3) a combination of mental and physical practice, or (4) no practice. The study was conducted over a period of five contact sessions lasting approximately twenty minutes each. Utilizing the analysis of multiple comparisons for ANCOVA, results demonstrated that the mental imagery group did improve their free ...

The Effects Of Massed And Distributed Practice On The Performance Of A Gross Motor Skill, William B. Christina Jan 1974

The Effects Of Massed And Distributed Practice On The Performance Of A Gross Motor Skill, William B. Christina

Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education Master’s Theses

The effects of massed and distributed practice on the basketball dribbling performance of fourth grade boys was investigated. Fifteen massed practice (MP) and 15 distributed practice (DP) subjects were randomly selected from an intact class of 37. The criterion task (dribbling a basketball) and four unrelated tasks (alternate activity tasks) were employed in the investigation. Subjects practicing under MP conditions received one 6 minute practice trial on all tasks during a single practice session. Subjects practicing under DP conditions received two 3 minute practice trials on all tasks during a single practice session. The total time spent on the criterion ...
