The major purpose of this study was to determine the perceptions of secondary school agriculture teachers in the North Central Region of the US regarding sustainable agriculture, the extent to which they teach the subject in their curriculum, and the use, credibility, and benefits of selected information sources. A secondary purpose was to develop a model to guide the integration of sustainable agriculture subject matter into the curriculum. The main purpose of this study was to determine and analyze farmers' perceptions regarding the adoption of selected sustainable agriculture practices specifically associated with weed control in Iowa. A secondary purpose was to identify the implications to agricultural extension education;The study revealed that farmers use a combination of various weed control methods including chemical control, cultivation, soil fertility management, crop rotation, and crop diversification. Iowa's citizens during World War II became soldiers in their loyalty, energy, and commitment as they fought on one or more of the home fronts. These four home fronts (historic terms) were the farm, production, community, and kitchen fronts. The farm front as part of the Food for Freedom campaign produced corn, soybeans, eggs, pork, beef, milk, and hemp for the Armed Services and the Allies. Iowa's farmers faced labor and machinery shortages yet produced record amounts of crops and animals.
