Many professionals involved with the educational use of microcomputers have indicated that criteria for evaluating software are often based on speculation and intuition and that there is a need to establish valid evaluative criteria. Among the elements comprising most evaluation schemes is interaction. The literature suggests that both an operational definition for the term interaction as applied to educational microcomputer software and a means to validly assess such interaction are necessary. The Effect Of Instructional Presentation On Student Satisfaction And Performance As Demonstrated In An Electronic Distance Educational (Ede) Delivery System, R. Alan Seamons

The purpose of this study was to gain insight into the emerging field of electronic distance education (EDE) so as to improve and enhance the delivery of educational programs utilizing EDE. The study was conducted at Utah State University, using an EDE-method (COM-NET) as the research setting. Thirty-seven instructors taught 45 courses over the COM-NET system from Fall quarter, 1985 through Summer quarter, 1986.

The design of this study was based upon simple correlation coefficient matrices and the subsequent prediction models of multiple regression analysis. Contextual data were gathered from a solicited instructor self-reporting instrument. The objective was to identify …

This paper discusses the use of country music lyrics in teaching American culture. Country music, as any aspect of popular culture, reflects the values of the society which produce and experiences it. The paper starts with a brief history of country music. Then the values of work, family, romantic love and individualism are analyzed and matched with appropriate songs. Within each value a dichotomy emerges: the contrast between a cultural ideal and a more ambiguous reality. The purpose of this paper is to provide language teachers with a broader understanding of dyslexia. I will draw from my own experience as well as provide various viewpoints on dyslexia given by neurologists, therapists, special education teachers, and adults with problems that stem from dyslexia. This paper will not provide instant remedies for various learning disorders. Instead, I will discuss the problems a dyslexic faces in language acquisition.
