The purpose of this study was to investigate and analyze the reading achievement of color blind children at the end of the first-grade in five randomly selected Albuquerque Public Elementary Schools to determine if there are any significant differences in their reading achievement and that of color vision children with similar I.Q. scores and to find if there is a relationship between this defect of vision and reading achievement.

It was the purpose of this study to consider materials for enrichment and supplemental purposes to strengthen the present reading program as it now exists in the Castle Rock Elementary School. The writer has found, however, that while materials do have a prominent role in reading, materials alone can not support an adequate program unless a more complete picture of the reading process is established and operating. This study will therefore concern itself with supplemental and enrichment materials as an integral part of the complete program and not necessarily as entities in themselves.

The textbook series used were: (1) The John C. Winston Company, (2) The L. W. Singer Company, (3) The D. C. Heath Company, (4) The Macmillan Company, and (5) The Scott Foresman Company.

It was the purpose of this study (1) to review literature regarding new trends in the elementary arithmetic program; (2) to investigate the role of the elementary school principal in administration of Cuisenaire materials; and (3) to investigate the current elementary arithmetic programs in the Highline School District #401 and, where evidence was available, in other school districts using Cuisenaire materials. The purpose of this study was (1) to aid in developing oral language patterns essential for better understandings of some common concepts in English; (2) to provide seven field trips from rural to urban communities for stimulating first-hand experiences; (3) to couple these trips with an extensive use of related audio-visual materials for immediate reinforcement learning; (4) to originate oral dialogue in English for classroom practices before and after each excursion; and (5) to test the significance of the gains made in use of English.

The principal purpose of this study was to gather information showing the effects of non-promotion on the achievement of those children, currently enrolled in the Sunnyside Public School District, who had been retained in the first grade. The purpose of the study was (1.) to determine the primary reasons given by the teacher for effecting the retention; (2) to show the progress of each of these children in reading and, in some cases, in arithmetic and spelling during his subsequent elementary school years.
