There is considerable evidence indicating great interest on the part of school counselors in the use of group procedures, but their reactions are mixed as to the effectiveness of such procedures. One reason for these mixed feelings is that many counselors question whether the group approach is a natural and appropriate way of being helpful to young people.

This research tests a short term total academic language development program on the development of language delayed children. It was hypothesized that an increase in vocabulary and response length after a six week treatment program would be reflected on the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and the Mean Length of Response Test. The treatment program utilized both the group and tutorial approach emphasizing the basic skills associated with listening, language, reading, writing and arithmetic. A Comparison Of The Turse Shorthand Aptitude Test Scores & Other Factors For Predicting Achievement Of Students In Beginning Shorthand Of Woodway Senior High School, Dellazine Moran

The first-year shorthand class of Woodway Senior High School was given the test instrument, The Turse Shorthand Aptitude Test, to determine whether achievement in shorthand could be predicted by the percentile rank achieved on The Turse Aptitude Test. Comparison was made of the shorthand grades; SCAT-Total, and Grade Point Averages. The only significant correlation found was between first semester grades of first-year shorthand and the overall grade point average which was significant at the .03 level. The second semester grades of first-year shorthand and the overall grade point average was significant at the .13 level.

Since the initiation of the proficiency testing program at Western Kentucky University, there had not been a comprehensive report of the performance of students who received academic credit on the basis of the American College Test as a proficiency examination. American College Test standard scores, American College Test composite scores, specific course grades, and overall grade point averages of selected students were examined to determine the effects of awarding academic credit on the basis of the American College Test standard score in English on a student's subsequent academic performance and to examine the feasibility of extending the use of the …
