The problem of this investigation was the shortage of people motivated to enter the superintendency and remain serving in Iowa public schools. The study sought to identify job characteristics that are perceived as contributing to the motivation to serve and remain as public school superintendents in Iowa, the extent to which they feel able to actualize the characteristics in their roles, and the relationship of results to Herzberg's Motivation-Hygiene Theory. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning style(s) of alternative educators, those who teach in an alternative school/program. A demographic profile of this growing subset of teachers was also investigated. Alternative educators' learning styles were compared with the learning styles of traditional educators, those who teach in the current paradigm of public K--12 schools. The central purpose of this study was to determine if a selected group of principals made ethical decisions through the processes outlined in James Rest's Four Component Model of Moral Behavior. The four components of the theory are moral sensitivity, moral motivation, moral judgment, and moral character. The purpose of this investigation was to increase the understanding of the dynamics of administrative negative stress on a school superintendent. This case study focused on Philip Derts (pseudonyms are employed), a superintendent supporting Outcome Based Education in the Black Rock School District during the early 1990s, and the challenges he encountered through community opposition to OBE. A procedure was developed, implemented, and tested to utilize 3600 Feedback[Superscript registered trademark symbol] collected from various job titles for central office and building administrators in public K-12 school district. Surveys were developed and used to reflect critical criteria for successful job performance. Data were aggregated and shared in feedback conferences with the administrators who were evaluated. Self-improvement plans were developed. Training materials were developed to allow the process to be used by other districts.
