Ouachita Baptist University hosted the 2019 Arkansas National Association of Teachers of Singing competition (NATS) Feb. 22-23 on Ouachita’s campus. Ouachita students earned 18 finalist honors, with six students receiving first place honors.

Ouachita Baptist University music students earned 11 finalist honors at the 2018 Southern Region Conference and Student Auditions held at Northwestern Louisiana University in Natchitoches, La. The competition, which is organized by the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), was attended by nearly 400 students from colleges and universities in Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Of this total, 23 Ouachita students earned finalist or semifinalist honors.

Ouachita Baptist University music students earned 12 finalist honors at the 42nd annual southern region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions Nov. 8-11, the highest number of finalists from any competing school. Additionally, Kara Claybrook, adjunct instructor of voice at Ouachita, earned second place in the NATS Artist Awards (NATSAA) competition for the southern region.

Thirteen Ouachita Baptist University students were named finalists at the 2017 Arkansas National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) auditions held at Harding University. Among the finalists, five Ouachita students earned first place awards.

Metropolitan Opera Singer Arnold Rawls To Perform At Ouachita Nov. 10, Sarah Davis, Ouachita News Bureau

Ouachita Baptist University will host Arnold Rawls, a Metropolitan Opera tenor, in concert Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in Jones Performing Arts Center in conjunction with the Southern Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) conference. Tickets for guests not attending the conference are $12 each.

Rawls is an internationally known singer with a reputation of entertaining audiences through his mix of vocal and dramatic skills. His Metropolitan Opera debut as Radamès in Aida captivated the audience in 2011.
