Design, Fabrication And Manufacturing Analysis Of A Rollover Protection System, Nikolas Paris
BioResource and Agricultural Engineering
This senior project discusses the design, fabrication and manufacturing analysis of a rollover protection system specifically designed for early body style Ford Broncos (1966-1977). The rollover protection system, or roll cage, is an integral safety feature on vehicles which commonly encounter extreme terrain conditions. Many vehicles which attempt to traverse terrain such as this are not always properly equipped with a rollover protection system. This is the case with the early body style Ford Bronco. This system will be designed to market the niche of early bronco parts.
Effects Of Website Environmental Cues On Consumers’ Response And Outcome Behaviors, Eunju Yoon
Effects Of Website Environmental Cues On Consumers’ Response And Outcome Behaviors, Eunju Yoon
College of Education and Human Sciences: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Mehrabian and Russell (1974) developed the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model in environmental psychology. This model is used to examine the effects of physical stimuli on human emotions and response behaviors. The development of the Internet and electronic commerce has spurred interest in online shopping research. The S-O-R model has been applied widely to examine consumers’ emotions and responses towards online website stimuli (Eroglu, Machleit, & Davis, 2001; Eroglu, Machleit, and Davis, 2003; Menon & Kahn, 2002; Richard, 2005).
The main objective of this study was to examine the effects of website environmental cues on the consumer’s affective (i.e., hedonic attitude) and …

We propose a method for measuring the conjectural errors that inexpert consumers make relative to experts in using observable product characteristics as surrogate indicators of a valued unobservable characteristic. Observations on the unobservable characteristic, available to the researcher but not consumers, are used to divide the data into high- and low-quality subsamples. Separate hedonic estimation on the subsamples enables measurement of the relative valuations and conjectures of experts and non-experts with respect to indicators under the assumption that consumers sort across quality grades based on their appraisal expertise. The method is demonstrated using a small sample of SKU-level data on …

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business
We estimate buy- and sell-order illiquidity measures (lambdas) for a comprehensive sample of NYSE stocks. We show that sell-order liquidity is priced more strongly than buy-order liquidity in the cross-section of equity returns. Indeed, our analysis indicates that the liquidity premium in equities emanates predominantly from the sell-order side. We also find that the average difference between sell and buy lambdas is generally positive throughout our sample period. Both buy and sell lambdas are significantly positively correlated with measures of funding liquidity such as the TED spread as well option implied volatility.

Evaluating Key Factors In Supplier Selection For Micro-Businesses: Implications For Buyer Satisfaction, Avinash Waikar, Minh Huynh, Robert Cope, Uday Tate

Final quality of products/services starts with suppliers in the supply chain. Problems can occur if suppliers do not deliver the quantities requested in full, on time, or buyers select suppliers solely on the basis of lowest price. Supplier selection has been studied for large businesses but not for very small (micro) businesses. Therefore, a survey was administered to micro-businesses to determine: what factors are important to micro-businesses in selecting suppliers and how satisfied they are with their suppliers. Factors included Brand Name, Consistency, Cost/Lower Price, Loyalty, Quality, and Warranty. Results indicated that none of the factors were unimportant. However, buyer …

Competition And Price Wars In The U.S. Brewing Industry, Jayendra Gokhale, Victor J. Tremblay
Competition And Price Wars In The U.S. Brewing Industry, Jayendra Gokhale, Victor J. Tremblay
Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Information Sciences - Daytona Beach
The behavior of the macro or mass-production segment of the U.S. brewing industry appears to be paradoxical. Since the end of Prohibition in 1934, the number of independent brewer has continuously declined while the major national brewers, such as Anheuser-Busch, Miller, and Coors, have gained market share. In spite of this decline in the number of competitors, profits and market power have remained low in brewing. Iwasaki et al. (2008) explain this result by providing evidence that changes in marketing and production technologies favored larger brewers and forced the industry into a war of attrition, in which only a handful …

At The Frontline Of Shopper Marketing: A Multi-Method Study Of In-Store Shopper Marketing Execution, Marcellis Maria Zondag
Doctoral Dissertations
Shopper marketing is an integrated marketing strategy increasingly used in the retail channel for Consumer Packaged Goods. The main characteristic of shopper marketing is close collaboration between retail channel partners with the objective to engage customers and potential customers prior to, during, and after shopping trips. The goal of shopper marketing is to create a mindset and physical store environment that facilitates shoppers’ purchasing decisions. The in-store manifestations of shopper marketing represent the culmination of the channel partners’ joint efforts and are crucial to the success of shopper marketing as a newly minted marketing strategy.
In-store shopper marketing may well …

Twitter Technology Trampling Fashion Designs: The Effects Of Twitter On The Fashion Industry., Margaret K. Reder
Pell Scholars and Senior Theses
The fashion industry continuously faces the issue of fashion piracy, retailers intentionally copying fashion designs from the runway and cheaply manufacturing them to sell at a low price. While large retailers are soaring, many young designers are struggling to survive. Fashion labels are turning to better marketing strategies and the use of social media to increase their popularity, image and revenue. This thesis covers the rise of Twitter, and how fashion designers, specifically Diane Von Furstenberg, Nanette Lepore, and Tory Burch, use Twitter and for what purpose. My goal is to determine if the use of Twitter fosters brand growth …

The Competitive Front-Of-Package Labeling Of Consumer Packaged Goods: Cutting Through The Clutter, Christopher Newman
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
At no point in U.S. history have food product packages displayed so many symbols and statements regarding nutrition and health benefits (Nestle 2010). However, despite this explosion of front-of-package (FOP) health communications, obesity and health-related problems of U.S. consumers continue to be a critical concern. Therefore, it is important for marketers, retailers, manufacturers, and public policy makers to develop a more complete understanding of consumers' processing and utilization of health information on food packages, as well as how this information affects product evaluations and choices.
Therefore, this dissertation utilizes a processing fluency theoretical framework (e.g., Zajonc 1968; Jacoby and Dallas …

A common problem in large Urban cities, of the sort seen in Asia, is the huge number of retail options available in the city. In particular, it is not uncommon to find multiple malls, each with hundreds of stores inside, just a short distance from each other in almost every part of these cities. These factors make it incredibly hard for consumers to identify stores of interest to them in any particular mall.In response, a number of shopping assistance applications have been created for mobile phones. However, these applications mostly just allow users to know which stores are where or to …

Towards A Better Specification Of The Store Environment Stimulus: An Augmented Stimulus-Organism-Response (Sor) Model That Captures Brand Expressiveness, John Murray
Conference proceedings
Abstract: This paper proposes an augmented SOR model which facilitates design/architect practitioners when they review store concepts. The paper contributes to the knowledge base of designers/architects when making deliberate brand expressions in development of the store environment. The global nature of the SOR model, it is argued, does not allow for discrimination between consumer interpretations of store brands; nor does it propose a realistic means of engaging design-architect practitioners at the concept proofing stage of development. This conceptual paper argues that retail branding studies benefit from inclusion of more flexible frameworks founded on separable and integral design-architecture and brand communicative …
