© 2019 The Authors This research explores the influence of an entrepreneur's personal brand in attracting capital, by examining the validity of the Entrepreneurial Brand Personality Equity (EBPE) model of Balakrishnan and Michael (2011). Its particular concern is whether investors provide funding to an entrepreneur's idea, or, to the entrepreneur behind the idea. Concomitantly, it seeks to identify the variations in the importance accorded by different investors to the several variables of the EBPE model, and whether these variations-and also the stages of business-influence the final investment decisions of investors. Motives Of Corporate Political Donations: Industry Regulation, Subjective Judgement And The Origins Of Pragmatic And Ideological Corporations, Nicholas M. Harrigan

What motivates corporate political action? Are corporations motivated by their own narrow economic self-interest; are they committed to pursuing larger class interests; or are corporations instruments for status groups to pursue their own agendas? Sociologists have been divided over this question for much of the last century. This paper introduces a novel case - that of Australia - and an extensive dataset of over 1,500 corporations and 7,500 directors. The paper attempts to understand the motives of corporate political action by examining patterns of corporate political donations. Coping With Recession In The Ski-Industry: A Suppliers’ And Consumers’ Perspective, Marijke Taks, Jona Ragoen

The current study explores the impact of the recession on the ski industry based on interviews with suppliers in two ski resorts (n=10) as well as ski travel agencies (n=8). Subsequently, Flemish ski tourists (n=252) were surveyed about changes in their behavior towards ski vacations from 2008 to 2011, taking into account their socio-cultural background as well their level of ski/snowboard participation. Both studies reveal a decline in ski tourism during the years under investigation. The impact of the recession varies according to the type of sports provider. Advances in technological innovation have been deployed to support autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles in many industries. A question that remains unanswered is why very little progress has been made in remote pilotage over the past 15 years. This paper draws together theories from innovation management and the high reliability organisation literatures to shed light on this question. Using a case study of two Australian ports, we examine a business case for remote pilotage demonstrating that despite positive cost benefit models, ambiguities in benefits exist throughout the ecosystem.
