Trust, Collaboration, And Financial Return In Conservation/Development Partnerships, New England Environmental Finance Center Dec 2003

Trust, Collaboration, And Financial Return In Conservation/Development Partnerships, New England Environmental Finance Center

Economics and Finance

In early 2002 the New England Environmental Finance Center hosted a series of roundtable discussions among municipal officials, residential developers, land trust representatives, and others about "Innovative Approaches to Land Conservation and Smart Growth". This suggested a link between creation of trust and financial return for traditionally opposed project partners.

To further examine this matter, we interviewed 11 round table participants and asked questions about …

Lodging Real Estate Finance: Securitization, A.J. Singh

Hospitality Review

Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBSs) introduced to the U.S. lodging industry in the early 1990’s were a panacea during a period of severe shortage of debt capital. These instruments changed commercial real estate capital markets by providing flexibility and liquidity to an otherwise illiquid investment As a relatively new form of financing to the lodging industry, the mechanics of securitization, the types of CMBS investments, and their structure are not well understood. The article illustrates the process of securitization and its importance as a significant source of debt financing to the lodging industry

Impact: What Influences Finance Research?, Tom Arnold, Alexander W. Butler, Timothy Falcon Crack, Ayca Altintig

Finance Faculty Publications

Which journal articles have had the most impact on finance research? Which journals dominated finance research in the 1990s? We answer these and similar questions using a comprehensive sample of journals, an extensive time period, and a new ranking method that avoids problems inherent in the existing literature. Among our findings: six of the 10 articles most highly cited by finance journals were published in econometrics or economics journals; Journal of Finance has the most citations, but it accounts for only one of the top 10 articles; and Journal of Financial Economics has the highest impact per article.

A Three Year Journey To Organizational And Financial Health Using The Balanced Scorecard: A Case Study At A Yale New Haven Health System Hospital, Andra Gumbus, Dorothy E. Bellhouse, Bridget Lyons

WCBT Faculty Publications

The article focuses on health care facilities. These facilities are facing financial pressures as the federal government, managed care, and the shift to outpatient care forces downsizing and hospital closures across the nation. This financial pressure translates for many institutions into an increased emphasis on financial metrics to the exclusion of other parameters. This article explores the three year journey to organizational and financial health of Bridgeport Hospital, a member of the Yale New Haven Health System, using the balanced scorecard as a strategic tool.
