Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! It’s a special academic year in that we begin the school year with a full budget! Over the past three years, our colleagues in public schools (K-12), who are under the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), began their school year with a full budget while IMSA and the rest of the universities, which are under the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), began and operated most of the past two years without a full budget.

Alumni Giving: A Relationship Between On-Campus Alumni Engagement, Participation And Financial Support, Lori Zabatta

The relationship of alumni participation in on-campus activities resulting in alumni giving will be studied. Graduates from a private institution in Providence, RI will be invited to complete an online questionnaire to measure their engagement and giving levels. Using a series of pointed questions and a Likert scale, alumni will rate their attitude towards specific alumni activities in relation to their willingness to give to the institution following each opportunity. This will help to determine which activities produce the highest number of annual donors. All responses will be statistically measured and results analyzed. Beginning in 2015 a major demographic shift in the majority income producers in the United States has moved from Baby Boomers to Millennials. At the same time, many nonprofits are not equipped to engage with Millennials and lack the knowledge and resources to tap into their philanthropic preferences. Nonprofit agencies are instrumental in U.S. society and local communities. While there is significant outreach targeted for wealthy and middle-class Caucasian families, there is a lack of targeted effort for African Americans. The purpose of this case study was to explore the strategies development directors use to engage and retain African American donors. The focus of the research questions was what factors lead to successful engagement campaigns for African Americans.
