The Airline Quality Rating (AQR) was developed and first announced in early 1991 as an objective method of comparing airline quality on combined multiple performance criteria. This current report, the Airline Quality Rating 2004, reflects monthly Airline Quality Rating scores for 2003. AQR scores far the calendar year 2003 are based on 15 elements in four major areas that focus on airline performance aspects important to air travel consumers.

Unilever Home & Personal Care-North America (HPC-NA) not only takes marketing its products very seriously, but it heavily promotes its balanced scorecard to employees as well. No wonder Unilever HPC-NA successfully designed a unique strategy to communicate awareness of the BSC while encouraging its participation and use. Their experiences should prove valuable to other organizations implementing a balanced scorecard and to those just beginning to formulate a communications approach to internal stakeholders about its role, significance, and use. This article argues that existing research poorly specifies the link between planning and performance because of omitted variable bias. Researchers agree planning is a critical part of creating any new venture. Many researchers assess planning by whether a small firm has a written business plan. Unfortunately, efforts empirically to validate this relationship have been inconclusive. This article proposes that researchers should assess business plans both on the quality of the plan (and the planning process that produced it), and on the quality of the underlying business opportunity. Strategic Considerations In The Financial Services Industry: Does Strategic Consistency Influence Performance?, Larry P. Pleshko, Richard A. Heiens

This paper suggests that the consistency of strategic leadership decisions is relevant to the performance of a firm. An organization with consistency in decision making across six relevant marketing strategy variables (promotion, price, channels, products, markets, and technology) is described as exhibiting "purity-of-form". An empirical examination is performed in the financial services industry investigating the relationship of strategic consistency to both profitability and market share while controlling for the firm's environment, structure, and size.

The findings indicate that a consistent strategy may have a positive effect on share performance, with high-levels of strategic leadership observed in the better-performing group. The …

Conflict is a pervasive phenomenon that permeates information systems development and implementation. The literature has indicated that conflicts, due to their association with negative emotion, will negatively influence IS project development, even after controlling for the effects of conflict management and resolution; however, the negative emotional characteristic of conflict alone has a limited explanatory power of IS project success. The purpose of this study is to provide additional insight, by including requirement uncertainty as the mediator variable, of the impacts of conflicts on project performance. Julia, a professional woman in her mid-thirties, has had relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis as a part of her life for the last five years. Now she must decide whether to disclose her hidden illness at work. Julia disclosed her illness to her manager in a prior employment, when her MS was first diagnosed, and experienced a supportive response. This dissertation is a comprehensive study of convertible-preferred-stock pricing and performance following issuance. It is the first major academic study that identifies significant abnormal performance of corporate contingent claims following issuance. The research utilizes both option-based contingent claims valuation models and econometric techniques to investigate the sources of superior investment performance of convertible securities as an asset class that has persisted for the past thirty years. Two main issues are examined: potential underpricing of convertible preferred stocks at issuance and their subsequent investment performance. The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and related systems have become popular in recent times due to problems associated with traditional financial systems. The BSC incorporates a multi-perspective performance reporting system that reports information about four perspectives - learning and growth, internal business processes, customer, and financials. BSC theory argues that there is a cause and effect relationship from the first perspective to the last. There are broader multi-perspective systems in practice that have two additional perspectives to these four - social and environmental. Atkinson et al.
