Already some of the big ones are behind us. The annual Blue-Gray Game in which the Confederacy tries to atone for the loss of the big game of 1865 was played in Montgomery, Alabama on Christmas Day. Once again the Gray was out maned. Then came the Jeep Eagle Aloha Bowl in which Aloha meant goodbye in any number of ways, and the Weiser Lock Copper Bowl, which asks the question what is a weiser lock and why would you want to lock weisers anyway?

International Market Segmentation And Euro Debt Issues, Stavros B. Thomadakis, Nilufer Usmen

Department of Accounting and Finance Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Implications of capital market segmentation for international capital structure (ICS)-capital structure consisting of equity issued in one country and debt issued in another-are examined. Necessary conditions for the emergence of ICS are analyzed under two options for debt issues (foreign debt and Eurodebt) and comparisons are made. It is shown that in cases where the project cannot support an ICS including foreign debt Eurobonds can be issued and would be profitable.

Women are defined as a minority in the United States. This is not because there are fewer women than men in our country but because they have traditionally held less power and earned salaries 39% lower than the average male's income (Conrad, 1994). although the gap in pay is decreasing, it illustrates the different expectations our culture places on men and women. Whether we embrace the idea or reject it, men and women also behave differently. Researchers argue that these differing behavioral patterns are either genetic or learned. These words of poet John Williams in "The Skaters" came to mind while contemplating the loss of beauty in the world that will result from the death of Sergei Grinkov. At age 28 his death came as a shock not only to those closest too him, but to anyone who has ever watched him and his skating partner perform their routines to near perfection. His partner, Yekaterina Gordeeva was with him on the ice at Lake Placid when he collapsed and died during a practice session some ten days ago.

Last week Larry Guest reported on the reluctance of the Orlando Magic to share this city with any other major league professional sports franchise. In the course of his column Guest quoted Magic owner Rich DeVoss as saying about his conversations with County Chairman Linda Chapin and Orlando Mayor Glenda Hood: "I talked to the girls and asked them how many sports dollars are there to go around in Orlando."
