Jordan Journal of Islamic Studies
This study tackles a very important topic, which is an old and new topic. Many have denied physical resurrection after death in the past, and there are still those who deny the physical resurrection of materialists and existentialists. Many studies attempted to address the issue of resurrection, but what distinguished this study is that it discusses the mental evidence that the Holy Qur’an used in proving the physical resurrection, where the researcher supposes that the Holy Qur’an provided us with a distinct approach and a unique method that addresses the mind and evokes conscience in proving the issue of physical …
Challenges And Opportunities In Teaching Interdisciplinary Courses On Islam And Evolution: A Theology-Centric Perspective, Shoaib Ahmed Malik
Challenges And Opportunities In Teaching Interdisciplinary Courses On Islam And Evolution: A Theology-Centric Perspective, Shoaib Ahmed Malik
All Works
In the nascent discourse of Islam and science, the discussion of how to reconcile evolution with Islam is one of the most, if not the most, pressing concerns. This article reviews the various studies that have looked at the reception of evolution in multiple contexts to highlight the pedagogical challenges that materialise for Muslim students and teachers. It argues that, while recognising the obstacles and challenges mentioned in other studies, the crucial subject matter of Islamic theology (ʿaqīda) is not fully appreciated in those analyses. How and why theology is a vital discussion matter is examined, along with the benefits …

ʿAbdulḥalīm Abū Shuqqa’S The Liberation Of Women In The Age Of Revelation: A Translation And Critical Commentary, Ibtehal Noorwali
Electronic Thesis and Dissertation Repository
One of Muslim scholars’ modern endeavors is to identify Islam’s egalitarian and liberating views on women as espoused by its earliest sources— the Qur’an and hadith. ʿAbdulḥalīm Abū Shuqqa makes such an attempt in his six-volume, Arabic book titled “The Liberation of Women in the Age of Revelation” (Taḥrīr al-Mar’a fī ‘Aṣr al-Risāla) published in 1995. He shows evidence from the Qur’an and authentic hadith reports for women’s autonomy, involvement in communal worship, public life, politics, battlefields, and professional work, among other activities. In an attempt to analyze and bring what was considered a ‘breakthrough’ in the Islamic …

The Light of Islam
The great imam and reformer seyyid Muhammad bin ‘Ali al-Senusi was born in Algeria and is a direct descendant of the prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Received an excellent upbringing and education. He devoted all his knowledge and life experience to a noble cause: improving and reforming the hard and poor life of the simple Arab people. This is the period when European countries (France, Italy, etc.) began occupation actions against the underdeveloped Arab countries of North Africa. In 1830, the French captured Algeria - the homeland of Muhammad ‘Ali al-Senusi, and in 1881 the …

Different Branches Of The Same Tree: A Comparative Analysis Of Sunni And Shia Theological Disparities And Their Implications For Democracy And Democratization, Alexander Porter
Honors Theses
This thesis initially examines the historical roots of the Sunni and Shia split and discusses how the different theological and governmental values that emerged out of the divide have the potential to change how each sect approaches ruling, hierarchy, and government. It then traces the development of these theological differences into their solidification in modern‐day usage by the two branches, and provides real world examples of how the history of the Sunni/Shia split both has and has not become realized in today’s world. Finally, this thesis discusses the democratic proclivity of each specific relevant theological difference.
Contemporary Attempts At Overcoming Decadence And Revitalizing Qur’Anic Thought, Muhammad Ata Al-Sid
Contemporary Attempts At Overcoming Decadence And Revitalizing Qur’Anic Thought, Muhammad Ata Al-Sid
Business Review
After the Prophet’s death, difficult internal problems arose and they needed quick answers. Muslims were killing one another in the struggle for the Caliphate between ‘Ali and Mu’awiyah, then between the Umawis and the ‘Abbasis, the death of Hasan and Husayn, the massacre of the umawise, the withdrawal of the Khawarji from a community which they regarded as hopelessly involved in sin, the breach between Sunnis and Shi’is were all crises which vigorously tested the Muslims’ understanding of the word of God.
