Generation Z, defined by the Pew Research Center as those born after 1997, is the least religious generation yet, according to a recent report from the American Survey Center. More than one-third of Generation Zers are religiously unaffiliated, along with 29 percent of Millenials, those born between 1981 and 1996. Popular literature on Tibetan Buddhism often overemphasizes the psychological dimension of the religion's beliefs and practices. This misrepresentative portrayal is largely traceable to the writings of the psychoanalyst C.G. Jung. By employing distinctly psychological terminology and interpretive strategies in his analyses of the Tibetan Book of the Dead and mandala symbolism, Jung helped to establish precedents that were adopted in subsequent analyses of the religion. Imposing a psychological lens on Tibetan Buddhism obscures other essential elements of the tradition, such as cosmology, physiology, and ritualism, thereby silencing the voices of Tibetans in analyses of their own practices. The act of storytelling provides a connection between the spiritual and physical spheres, and the Haudenosaunee people (more commonly recognized as Iroquois) utilize the oral narrative to convey the most sacred truths of their culture. The purpose of the present study is to compare Catholic and non-Catholic students in a Catholic High School (Wheeling Central Catholic High School) with respect to their religious knowledge and religious practices. One hundred and fifty-nine (159) Catholic students (92 ninth graders, 67 twelfth graders) and eighteen (18) non-Catholic students (14 ninth graders, 4 twelfth graders) are included in the study. Raw scores for religious knowledge and religious practice were derived from data obtained from administration of the Assessment of Catholic Religious Education (ACRE), 1992 edition.
