Pauline Anthropology: The Old And New Man, Jerry Lee Cripe

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

The purpose of this research project is to determine how the Pauline terms the "old man" and "new man" are to be interpreted and translated. Do these terms refer to the "old self" (unregenerated person) and "new self" (regenerated person) , or to the 0 old race" (as in Adam) and "new race" (as in Christ)? In addition to answering these questions, considerable attention is spent in determining what Paul means in Romans 6:6; that is, whether the crucifixion of the old man refers to the individual believer 1 s conversion (Romans 6:1 ff.) or to the accomplished fact of …

Role Of The Minister's Wife, Sosamma Abraham Mar 1975

Role Of The Minister's Wife, Sosamma Abraham

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

Excerpt: "There are only a few references made to the minister's wife in the Bible. But there is no question about her existence. Both Matthew and Luke refer to the mother-in-lav! of Peter. Paul also says that the deacons' wives are to "be grave, not slanderers, sober, and faithful in all things: (I Tim. 3:11).

The one reason for the fewness of Biblical references to the minister's wife is the fact that at this early period the ministry had not become professionalized.1 That …

A Study Of Christian (Systematic) Theology Books Used As Texts In A. T. S. Schools, Richard Alvin Johnson

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses

In an era today of rapid growth in knowledge, the average contemporary man has forgotten the Creator, applauding only the creations of his own mind. It has been and is the task of theologians, whether pastors or professors,. to keep alive the option of belief in the reality of God--to remind man to clap. In the theologian's field of knowledge, as in all arenas of thought, literary works have exploded, bombed, and even splintered in a mind-expanding wilderness of information. Access to this knowledge and its availability to theologians was the impetus for the following study.

This study was designed to exegete the entire book of Romans. The study is an effort to produce a sound and thorough evangelical exposition of the book and to discover how the exposition might be applied practically.
