At 19 years old, Olsen left his university studies to go to Colombia to reach the Motilone, a tribe that was hostile and violent toward outsiders. While Olsen was reaching out to the tribe, one of the members shot him in the leg with an arrow. Surprisingly, they did not kill him but nursed him back to health. - Don Ross, director of the Tulsa Labor Program,
- Dr. Zan Holms, Texas legislator and Methodist superintendent,
- Homer Johnson, director of the Citizen Participation program of Model Cities.
This rather lengthy talk included discussion of racism, poverty, societal structures, militancy and black/white relations as well as questions and comments from ORU students.
