The first Deborah Morton Awards were presented on April 20th, 1961, at a public Convocation entitled "The Modern World and the Education of Woman," celebrating the 130th anniversary of the founding of Westbrook Seminary and Junior College. Mr. William S. Linnell, President of the Board of Trustees, assisted by college President Edward Y. Blewett, presented the first Awards to twelve women of the Greater Portland area who had made significant and valuable contributions to the civic, cultural, and social life of the community, in the manner of Deborah Morton who had rendered more than fifty years of distinguished …

Founded in 1831, Westbrook Seminary & Junior College celebrated its 125th Anniversary with a Pageant, Speakers, Reception and Commemorative Exhibits. This Anniversary program includes:

I. A Westbrook Seminary & Junior College History from its inception in September of 1830 through the Seminary years and the early years of the Junior College.

II. The Order of Events and Speakers for the Anniversary Celebration held in the Stevens Avenue Armory on June 2, 1956.

III. A listing of Commemorative Exhibits located throughout the campus.

IV. A listing of the Headmasters and Presidents of Westbrook Seminary & Junior College from 1834 thru 1956. …

Founded in 1831, Westbrook Seminary & Junior College commemorated its 100th Anniversary with an elaborate series of events. This Commemoration Program includes:

"A Chronicle Play" with Five Episodes from the History of Westbrook Seminary, 1831-1900, by Miss Maud Palmer Thayer, Dean of the Junior College.

An Historical Address, by Miss Deborah N. Morton, Class of 1879.

A Tribute to Miss Morton, by Mr. David E. Moulton, President of the Trustees.

An Alumni Song to the Faculty, by Miss Maud Palmer Thayer.
