The 39th Infantry Regiment fought as part of the 9th Infantry Division during World War II. This chonicle is a diary of the Regiment's daily operations and actions as it progressed across Europe during 1944 and 1945. The chronicle is portrayed from the vantage point of Richard B. Kann (father of the author) and Dale E. Smith, who served as medics in the 39th Infantry Regiment during that time.

Starr, as well as one letter signed “Don,” with no other distinguishing factors of his identity. All letters include their original envelope.

This thesis studies events that preceded America's entries into the First and Second World Wars to discover similarities and dissimilarities. Comparing America's entries into the World Wars provides an insight into major events that influenced future ones and changed America.

Research was conducted from primary sources of Presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt. In addition, secondary sources were used that study the events preceding America's entries into World War I and World War II. Research was also conducted on public opinion.

This treatise explores the nature and significance of the threat posed to civil liberties during times of major national military crisis and evaluates changes in the nature of wartime repression over the course of American history. It tests the thesis that the evolution in Americans’ response to such crises has not been a simple progression toward increasing restraint on the part of federal, state, and local policymakers, as is sometimes assumed. The correspondence begins while Wheeler was a student at Western Kentucky State Teachers College and continues when he enters the U.S. Army Air Corps.
