The Feminist Collective at the University of Maine has been one of the primary sources of campus feminist activism for more than four decades. The focuses of the organization have changed over the years, following the trends in the larger feminist movements in the U.S. and adapting to new technologies and means of communication. The organization's recent decision to adopt the name the Feminist Collective (Fem C), which is more inclusive of trans, non-binary, and gender nonconforming folks, signifies one such shift.
