Carrie Eldridge is a genealogical researcher in Chesapeake, Ohio. This collection contains photocopies of many county record books of the Appalachian areas of West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky, ranging from the American Revolution until the end of the Civil War. The collection also contains high quality photographs of one room school houses of Cabell County, West Virginia, an audio cassette oral history, books, and pen nibs.

This collection consists of several formats and topics of materials related to the activities of Virginia Talbott Quay, including a scrapbook of newspaper clippings dating between 1930 and 1950 about social and cultural events as well as the activities of lineage societies, including the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Other materials relate to her work with several lineage societies, including the U.S. Daughters of 1812 and Daughters of American Colonists. Doris Copley Miller was a Huntington, West Virginia poet, newspaperwoman, and local historian. Papers include her work in draft and printed form and correspondence, notably the Jesse Stuart letters. It also contains poetry submissions from other friends and the public as well as working files from her years as religion, education and poetry editor at the Huntington Publishing Company. In addition to her newspaper columns, she also conducted genealogical research.

This collection contains photocopies of many county record books of the Appalachian areas of West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky, ranging from the American Revolution until the early twentieth century. It also contains her personal research files on topics related to slavery and the Underground Railroad in Ohio and West Virginia as well as local history topics such as church and family histories.

The collection contains of two manuscripts bound together, “George Webb Family Deeds Recorded in States of North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia” and “Family Bible of Benjamin Franklin Swann, Louisa Jane Hatfield Swann”. These manuscripts were copied by Marion S. McCullough and Helen B. Webb, both members of the Westmoreland Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. They former manuscript contains transcriptions of six deed records while the latter contains four pages of birth, marriage, death, and other family bible records. An index is included.

This collection includes transcriptions of the markers found in the Williamstown Cemetery in Williamstown, West Virginia for the dates 1858 to 1924. An index of names is included. This project was undertaken by the James Wood Chapter of the National Society for the Daughters of the American Revolution, located in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Papers consist primarily of diaries, newspaper clippings, correspondence, genealogies and photographs of five families: the Glanville-Carter families of St. Louis, Mo.; the Whittakers of Preble County, Ohio; Dorothy Whittaker Atkins of Huntington, West Virginia.; and the Heacocks of Bucks County, Penna.

A significant part of the collection are the diaries of Annie Heacock, a teacher at the Penn School for freed slaves in Beaufort, South Carolina, 1864-1869. Other diaries include the Civil War diary of John Whittaker, a surgeon in the 81st Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

The Campbell-Staats collection consists of two separate series of information. The first series is comprised of the Jennie Ratliff Campbell papers. These papers consist mainly of personal correspondence to Miss Ratliff dating from 1875-1888. The majority of these letter were from two particular individuals, R. G. Drysdale and W. S. Livengood, and concerned everyday occurrence and mutual acquaintances. The remainder of the series is made up of samples from her schoolwork, songs she had copied, business correspondence, and a book of poetry given to her by her fiancee, C. W. Campbell.
