In May and June of 1988, archaeological testing of Site 41KM3, the Red Creek Site, was conducted by the Texas Department of Transportation, at that time the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation (SDHPT), in preparation for the construction of FM 3480 in Kimble County. The Red Creek Site is a large, multiple midden site along the northern terrace of the Llano River near its confluence with Red Creek.
