This collection is composed of copies of Robert L. Archer’s manuscript titled “Chronicles of Early Huntington, 1871-1896” as well as materials related to it. The manuscript covers the history of Huntington during the time through vignettes featuring the C&O Railroad, other industry and transportation, and more. Also included is a short manuscript titled “Making the Constitution Safe for Democracy (Marbury vs. Madison)” which begins with the midnight appointment of John Marshall to the Supreme Court. This collection is composed of clippings and copies of newspaper columns by Rick Baumgartner written for the Huntington Advertiser dealing with history of Huntington, West Virginia, families and local events. Many were later compiled into the booklet, "First Families of Huntington, West Virginia." The collection is composed of columns published between 1976 and 1979, the first box contains access copies of the columns while the second box contains the original clippings donated by Baumgartner.

The Southern Women and Their Families in the 19th Century: Papers and Diaries Collection consists of microfilm copies of selected collections at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill’s Southern Historical Collection and the Virginia Historical Society related to southern women and their families during the nineteenth century. Topics relate to women in the South and include descriptions of plantation and family life, domestic relations, and travel, and formats include diaries, correspondence, and other papers.
