On November 17, the Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History and the Maine Arts Commission sponsored the "Traditional Culture in the Classroom" workshop at the University of Maine, Orono campus. The workshop was attended by elementary and secondary educators from across the state. Sessions addressed the use of folklore and oral history in the classroom, suggestions and techniques for projects, and classroom activities. The afternoon forum provided the opportunity for educators to share their experiences in developing and coordinating folklife and oral history projects.
