Lost & Found is a game series, created at the Initiative for
Religion, Culture, and Policy at the Rochester Institute of
Technology MAGIC Center.1 The series teaches medieval
religious legal systems. This article uses the first two games
of the series as a case study to explore a particular set of
processes to conceive, design, and develop games for learning.
It includes the background leading to the author's work
in games and teaching religion, and the specific context for
the Lost & Found series. It discusses the rationale behind

This paper analyzes a shifting landscape of intellectual freedom (IF) in and outside Florida for children, adolescents, teens and adults. National ideals stand in tension with local and state developments, as new threats are visible in historical, legal, and technological context. Examples include doctrinal shifts, legislative bills, electronic surveillance and recent attempts to censor books, classroom texts, and reading lists.
Privacy rights for minors in Florida are increasingly unstable. New assertions of parental rights are part of a larger conservative animus. Proponents of IF can identify a lessening of ideals and standards that began after doctrinal fruition in the 1960s …

The Indigenous Archive: Religion And Education In Eighteenth-Century Mexico, Mónica Díaz

This article argues that eighteenth-century native elites played a significant role in the larger intellectual scene of colonial Mexico by participating in the same debates as their creole and European counterparts. I contend that the documentation produced by native elites related to the indigenous schools (colegios), convents, and seminaries during the eighteenth century provides an important context for understanding the ways in which knowledge circulated between natives, creoles, and Europeans. Militarism As A Theme In Nazi Education And Youth Organizations, Matthew J. Smith

The rise of Nazism in Germany led to reform in the state education system. This included subversive themes of militarism in typically non-nationalistic subjects, as well as inflated nationalism in subjects such as history and geography. The militaristic themes in the Nazis’ educational system paralleled the mission of the youth organizations in Germany during this period. These youth organizations also used the psychology of German adolescents to further indoctrinate and achieve their mission of creating a generation of ready servants of the German fascist state.

Developing Medicine: Cuba, Modernization, And Public Health, 1898-1945, Jessica Leigh Allison

This dissertation examines the modernization of aspects of Cuba’s public health programs through the influence of the Rockefeller Foundation. As a result of its sponsorship of projects, the Rockefeller Foundation contributed to the spread of modernizing practices and policies from 1913 through 1945. An evaluation of medical modernization remains an important chapter in the study of post-colonial development. Current research has often portrayed public health modernization efforts as unidirectional with the United States imposing its ideas and practices onto developing nations.
