Finding Aids

The collection comprises of the papers of Frank W. Spencer Papers (1921-1979) and Lillian W. Spencer (1940-1987). The bulk of the collection is subject files arranged by Frank W. Spencer over his lifetime. The bulk of the papers range from the 1940s through the end of the 1960s.

Our Neighborhood Club of Old Town, Maine, was organized in 1893 and federated in the Maine Federation of Women's Clubs in 1901. The group sought out the collective betterment of each member and the community by doing charity work. They often donated gifts, money, and time to hospitals, veterans organizations, and cancer research.

The Our Neighborhood Club papers collection consists of club program booklets, scrapbooks, photographs, as well as club meeting minutes and attendance. The collection does have papers that span between 1908 to 2007, however, the collection primarily focuses on club materials during the 1960s through the 1990s.

Brown (Ella C.) Papers, 1960-1978, Special Collections, Raymond H. Fogler Library, University Of Maine

Finding Aids

Ella Corinne Brown was a faculty member at the University of Maine in Orono from 1962 to 1979. She was responsible for writing the course program for parks and recreation and designed the specialized program leading to a degree in parks and recreation. Brown was born in 1920 in Kansas City, Missouri and died in Orono, Maine in 1987. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951 and received her master's degree from Montana State University in 1961. She received her Ph.D. degree from Indiana University.

Bulloch County Sociological Survey, 1969-1972, Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections

Collection consists of materials related to Taylor C. Scott’s sociological survey of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents from 1969 to 1972. Materials include completed resident and employment surveys, survey project reports, researcher notes, and general demographic records of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents. Additional documentation of survey methods and data including codebooks, maps, charts, and graphs are included.

Bulloch County Sociological Survey, 1949, Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections

Finding Aids

This collection includes interview transcripts and demographic records of Statesboro-Bulloch County residents and their views of social class divisions and current events in Bulloch County. Documents were compiled in 1949 by sociological researcher, Bevode C. McCall. His 1954 dissertation, “Georgia Town and Cracker Culture” is a result of this survey.

Edward G. Little Papers, Zach S. Henderson Library Special Collections

Finding Aids

This collection contains Edward G. Little’s personal and professional work, notes, and photographs as a professor, researcher, and scholar from 1921 until his passing in 1998. Included are handwritten and typed drafts and portions of his book Icelandic Sagas: Crossroads of Myth, History, and Sociology, photographs from Iceland, of family, and of research, a great deal of research notes, as well as papers documenting. Little’s time in the Air Force and other group involvements.

Spanning from 1889-1892, this collection consists of a diary once belonging to Victorian Liberty County resident, Laura Fraser. Contents include personal correspondence, written short stories from prominent writers, local newspaper clippings, and personal accounts.
