Zheng He And The American Liberal Arts Education: Contexts And Complications, Marla Lunderberg

Zheng He was a eunuch of Moslem family heritage who held great authority early in the Ming Dynasty, primarily under the Yongle emperor (reign: 1402–24), as he led seven maritime expeditions, of which three reached the eastern coast of Africa. Of recent English language projects on Zheng He, Henry Tsai (1996) explores the context of the eunuchs of the Ming Dynasty in defining Zheng He’s work, and Edward Dreyer (2007) and Timothy Brook (2010) portray Zheng He within the context of the Chinese tributary system. Une analyse de la culture française à partir des stéréotypes du peuple français et une étude historique à partir du moyen âge jusqu'à l'époque moderne qui tente de fournir une explication des origines de ces stéréotypes. Pour chaque siècle il y a une analyse de l'histoire, de l'art, de la musique, de la philosophie et de la littérature. A la fin de chaque chapitre il y a des suggestions de matériaux et d'activités à utiliser dans l'enseignement aux étudiants au niveau universitaire.

Making Herstory: Cherokee Women's Stickball, Natalie M. Welch, Jessica Siegele, Zachary T. Smith, Robin Hardin

Cherokee stickball amongst the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is a sporting tradition that precedes written records. Historical and academic texts have focused on men’s participation in the sport. However, Cherokee women participated in their own stickball games as recent as a decade ago, and stories exist of women playing stickball in the late nineteenth century. Many in the community believe stickball should not be played by women and doubt evidence of women playing historically. Researchers sought to understand the intersectionality of gender and ethnic identity for female stickball players who took the field to play stickball at the turn …
