Boonshoft School of Medicine Oral History Project

This second interview with Dr. Beljan is in two parts. The first part is a continuation of the first interview in that Dr. Beljan continues his description of the political problems facing the School of Medicine's development when he arrived as founding Dean. He then goes on to discuss other possible dangers to development, the interview process for his position, and the roles of Miami University and Central State University in the development of the SOM.

Boonshoft School of Medicine Oral History Project

This first in a series of six interviews deals with the background of Dr. John Beljan at the University of California at Davis, his nomination and appointment as founding Dean of the Wright State University School of Medicine, and the challenges in building a school of medicine that he faced on his arrival at Wright State.

Dr. Beljan also gives his views on the interview process, the concept of a community-based school of medicine, and the political problems that he encountered in the development of the Wright State University School of Medicine.
