She expresses hope that Gilbert may return home soon, but refers to talk of President Woodrow Wilson’s refusal to accept a negotiated peace. Business and personal correspondence, as well as business records (chiefly invoices and statements from Louisville suppliers) for the Green family at Falls of Rough, Grayson County, Kentucky. Green operated a number of businesses, including saw mills, a grist mill, woolen mill, and a general store. He also operated a large farm raising tobacco and livestock, as well as a herd of Shetland ponies. Although his businesses are covered extensively in the correspondence and records, politics and local economic development is also discussed.

This collection includes a good deal of information about Farley’s teaching career prior to his work as a professor at WKU, his involvement in organizations that fought alcoholism and gambling (particularly the lottery in Kentucky), his church work, and his service on a committee to choose a federal magistrate for the western district of Kentucky. The collection includes an entire box of assessment related material related to Fort Knox Dependent Schools in the mid-1960s.

Finding aid and scan of a portion of a diary (Click on "Additional Files" below) for Manuscripts Collection 564. Diary kept by George Henry Sargent from 1 May 1851 to 10 January 1853. The Harvard student writes on a variety of subjects, including education, religion, historical events, travel, etc. Of particular interest is a three-month sojourn in 1852 with his sister, Lucy Baldwin (Sargent) Rupert in Louisville, Kentucky. While in Kentucky, he also visits Henderson and Mammoth Cave.

Letter, 24 May 1853, of Benjamin Edwards Grey, Henderson, Kentucky, to Hardinsburg, Kentucky lawyer J. B. Bruner. Seeking reelection to Congress, Grey complains of lack of support from his own Whig Party and promises to help reconcile breaches among its members. He encloses a broadside advertising a Democratic Party meeting in Henderson County on 28 May as evidence of its organization and aim to carry the election.
