Born at Henderson, West Virginia, Mrs. Price was a teacher for Kanawha County, West Virginia for forty-four years. As of 1972, Mrs. Price was retired and residing in Hernshaw, West Virginia. Mrs. Price relates the story of her reasons for entering the teaching profession and her career while teaching at one-room schoolhouses. She also discusses some of the situations and problems involving transportation and employment confronting the people of Hernshaw, West Virginia.

Collection consists of medals, including the Croix de Guerre and the Silver Star for service as an Infantry officer in the First World War; diaries with detailed descriptions of maneuvers and tactical plans; framed certificates and plaques. Born in Huntington, West Virginia April 5, 1894, Son of David W. and Ruth Frampton. Volunteered October 1915- Army Co. E, 9th U.S. Reg. 2nd Division. Saw Service on Mexican Boarder, 1 1/2 years active service in France. Lieutenant from Honor Roll of Cabell County, West Virginia/ compiled by W.W. Smith, Huntington, West Virginia.

A major portion of the collection consists of correspondence between Mr. Gideon and his political and business associates between 1929 and 1945. Included is correspondence regarding the administration of the estate of Mr. Gideon's brother-in-law, Mike Broh. Another large group of papers is made up of ledgers, journals, day books, daily cash sheets, check ledgers, account ledgers, and other records from the Huntington Herald Company and the several land and holding companies with which Mr. Gideon was associated.
Correspondence and business records of the Sam and Dave Gideon clothing store from 1914 until 1926 comprise most of the remaining papers. …

The Draper manuscripts are composed of many thousands of items in 486 volumes. They relate chiefly to the area between the Mississippi River on the west and the Hudson River and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, especially the frontier region during the period 1755-1815, and consist of original papers collected by Lyman C. Draper and transcripts and notes made by him. Included are Draper’s partially completed life of Daniel Boone, and his unpublished histories of "Border Forays" and "Mecklenburg Declarations".
