The exhibition of Swiss drawings which travels from Washington, D.C. (October 7 -29, 1967) to New York (Pierpont Morgan Library: November 15, 1967 - January 2, 1968), San Francisco (M.H. de young Memorial Museum: January 14 - February 12, 1968) and Chicago (Art Institute: February 24 - March 26, 1968) 1) poses two problems:
1) Why did drawing and generally graphic expression play such an important role in the work of Swiss artists from Urs Graf to Giacometti?
2) What was the role of Swiss art within the European creative community, in other words, what is its qualitative position?

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
In 1965 several anthropologists drew up plans for a one-year pilot study of the archeology and ethnohistory of the Wichita Indian tribes. After financial support had been generously provided by the National Science Foundation, the proposed research was carried out. This is a report on the results of that study.
The pilot study was designed to: a) obtain a body of field data from the components of the Spanish Fort sites, the largest and best=documented of the historic Wichita sites in the Red River area; b) make test excavations at several other sites in order that a problem=oriented program of …

The Swiss Cookbook By Nika Standen Hazelton

We have just received this new Swiss cookbook. All the cooking experts we consulted confirm that it is excellent. The recipes are preceded by an introduction in which we learn much about the history and philosophy of Swiss cooking. The traditional Swiss meals were simple, but very carefully prepared and served. The carefulness is an excellent basis: As long as it can be preserved, the Swiss cuisine will keep its good renown, and there is not reason to doubt that this will not be the case. The success of emigrated Swiss cooks all over the world shows us that this …

About a year ago, the Ticino chapter of the Swiss Officers' Society published a special supplement to tis journal, the Rivista militare della Svizzera italiana. It is a little book of about 120 pages, nicely printed, well edited, and embellished with a number of good illustrations. The contents are of surprising interest to students of Swiss military history as well as to those of the America Civil War. This is the reason why we believe that the volume should be brought to the attention of the readers of the SAHS Newsletter. It contains the first publication of the repots of …
