The miners of the four state area lived a life of extreme hardships. Every morning wives, sons, and daughters would say good bye to their fathers hoping that this would not be the last time they saw their loved ones. This was the life of a miner family, with such horrible working conditions in the mining field people dealt and copped with death every day. Miners often came down with diseases because of the conditions Syphilis, silicosis, and tuberculosis were not uncommon.
