President Kennedy And The Escalation Of The Vietnam War, Kenneth L. Sterner

The purpose of this paper is to determine if President Kennedy had a large impact on President Johnson in escalating the Vietnam War. This paper argues that Kennedy's decision to remove Ngo Dinh Diem from the South Vietnamese Presidency forced Johnson to escalate. American aid, politically, militarily, and economically in Vietnam, played a large role in forcing Johnson to escalate the war. This paper examines the political impact President Kennedy created, the military situation in Vietnam, and the economics of Diem's removal.

This paper examines the extent of which START I and New START achieved effective balance of power between the United States and Russia. It addresses the purpose, agreements and the impact of START I and New Start on the effectiveness in accomplishing global balance of power. This paper argues that while the original START I accomplished a global balance of power by equalizing reduction of nuclear arsenals in both countries, but that New START did not accomplish a long-term global balance of power. Collaboration Is Key: A Study On The Religious Identity Of Catholic And Southern Baptist Hospitals, Benjamin German

Since its inception, the Christian church has emphasized physical healing alongside spiritual healing. The Roman Catholics and Southern Baptists established their first hospitals in America in the mid-nineteenth and late-nineteenth centuries respectively. While a number of hospitals bear the names Catholic or Baptist, they do not all necessarily possess the same religious character they once did. This research paper compares and contrasts the hospital ministries of the two Christian sub-groups. It concludes that Roman Catholic hospitals have stayed more true to their religious identity than Southern Baptist hospitals. This paper examines Noah Webster's impact on the United States during the early 19th century through his linguistic work. His standardization of American English spelling and pronunciation, as well as his addition of Americanisms to The American Dictionary of the English Language, created a national culture that united the states at a time when their differences threatened to tear them apart.

This paper proves that Gettysburg marked the turning point in Civil War leadership, and led to the Union victory. Throughout history, every musical culture grew and developed under a specific set of influences, whether political, philosophical, or geographical. Varying sets of influences created likewise varying types of music. Spanish music, in particular, enjoyed an especially unique array of influences during the fifteenth century. My presentation explores these influences. How did the interaction of Spain’s three major religions—Christianity, Islam, and Judaism—affect musical development? This is a biographical pairing of two of the greatest conquerors in human history, drawing its inspiration from Plutarch's Parallel Lives. Like Plutarch, the purpose of the pairing is not primarily historical. While Plutarch covers the history of each of the lives he chronicles, he also emphasizes questions of character and the larger lessons of politics to be derived from the deeds he recounts. The book provides a narrative account both of Alexander's conquest of the Persian Empire and Cortés's conquest of the Aztec Empire while reflecting on the larger questions that emerge from each.
