Rousseau, A Constituição De Cádis E A Renacença Portuguesa, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Rousseau, A Constituição De Cádis E A Renacença Portuguesa, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Agency, Structures And Peru: Action And In-Action During 1980-2000, Kimberly A. Protzel
Master's Theses
The Shining Path along with Alberto Fujimori's presidency in Peru (encompassing the years 1980-2000) created a terrifying chaos that was wound up in both state and insurgent terrorism, corruption, and massacres. While this chaos is inextricably linked to Peru's history, I fear is being all too quickly forgotten. My main motivation behind this research has been to take a step towards increasing awareness of these events and the many reasons behind them: the agenic nature of some versus the lack of it in others, structures developed by colonialism, and most terrifyingly of all - willful ignorance. By understanding these reasons, …

Efektivitas Program Csr/Cd Dalam Pengentasan Kemiskinan; Studi Peran Perusahaan Geotermal Di Jawa Barat, Dody Prayogo, Yosef Hilarius
Masyarakat: Jurnal Sosiologi
This study discusses model of measurement to assess the effectiveness of programs of corporate social responsibility (CSR) held by corporation of mines, oil and gas, and geothermal in relation with poverty alleviation within the surrounding communities. The case study is conducted in a geothermal company in West Java. Results of study indicate that measurements of CSR should be developed in accordance with the scale of program, and should as well make use micro indicators which are relevant with elements of poverty. Also, the assessment should mainly be focused to the target group of beneficiaries. The role of corporation can be …
Programa Mínimo Para A Democracia, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Programa Mínimo Para A Democracia, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
É sempre salutar discutir a Democracia.

Clima Anticonstitucional, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Clima Anticonstitucional, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Proibição Do Retrocesso E Reserva Do Possível: Princípios Constitucionais Para Tempos De Crise, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Proibição Do Retrocesso E Reserva Do Possível: Princípios Constitucionais Para Tempos De Crise, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Inconstitucionalidade Do Orçamento Do Estado. A Caminho De Uma "Constituição" Flexível Infralegal?, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Bath, Maine: A City Of Ships, Taylor Witkin
Bath, Maine: A City Of Ships, Taylor Witkin
Historical Ecology Atlas of New England
Known as Maine’s city of ships, Bath sits on the shores of the Kennebec River, about 15 miles from the Gulf of Maine and 40 miles up the coast from Portland. Though small in population, Bath’s impact on Maine, the rest of United States, and even on the world has been anything but small. Today Bath is known mostly for the Bath Iron Works, which supplies the US Navy with a large portion of its fleets, however, in Bath’s early days it built large, wooden yachts and schooners mostly for trade, not war. The next few pages will explore Bath’s …

“Don't Call Me A Student-Athlete”: The Effect Of Identity Priming On Stereotype Threat For Academically Engaged African American College Athletes, Keith Harrison
Dr. C. Keith Harrison
Academically engaged African American college athletes are most susceptible to stereotype threat in the classroom when the context links their unique status as both scholar and athlete. After completing a measure of academic engagement, African American and White college athletes completed a test of verbal reasoning. To vary stereotype threat, they first indicated their status as a scholar-athlete, an athlete, or as a research participant on the cover page. Compared to the other groups, academically engaged African American college athletes performed poorly on the difficult test items when primed for their athletic identity, but they performed worse on both the …

The Role Of The Law In The Availability Of Public Transit And Affordable Housing In Atlanta’S West End, Elliott Lipinsky
The Role Of The Law In The Availability Of Public Transit And Affordable Housing In Atlanta’S West End, Elliott Lipinsky
ELLIOTT LIPINSKY
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is a branch of the U.S. Department of Transportation that administers federal funds and provides technical assistance for the support of locally operated public transit systems. MARTA / Atlanta metro area are part of FTA Region IV (the Southeast). FTA would be involved, for instance, in financing the federal grant monies discussed above. But actual regulation of operations (i.e., what MARTA does each day, or what MARTA will plan to do regionally) is more closely regulated by Georgia agencies.
Until recently, the Atlanta metropolitan area had no powerful central agency to coordinate regional transit. The …
"Spectacular Opacities": The Hyers Sisters' Performances Of Respectability And Resistance, Jocelyn Buckner
"Spectacular Opacities": The Hyers Sisters' Performances Of Respectability And Resistance, Jocelyn Buckner
Theatre Faculty Articles and Research
This essay analyzes the Hyers Sisters, a Reconstruction-era African American sister act, and their radical efforts to transcend social limits of gender, class, and race in their early concert careers and three major productions, Out of Bondage and Peculiar Sam, or The Underground Railroad, two slavery-to-freedom epics, and Urlina, the African Princess, the first known African American play set in Africa. At a time when serious, realistic roles and romantic plotlines featuring black actors were nearly nonexistent due to the country’s appetite for stereotypical caricatures, the Hyers Sisters used gender passing to perform opposite one another as heterosexual lovers in …
Regulations Concerning Immigration And Citizenship, C. V. Eberlin
Regulations Concerning Immigration And Citizenship, C. V. Eberlin
The Bridge
Americans, both the native born and the immigrants, are proud of their country. It is their firm belief that there isn’t a country in the world where the working class is so well off and has such a good lifestyle as over here, that America has far less illness and fewer cripples than most other countries, that America, morally, is far above any other country, and that no other country can show the same degree of freedom, equality, and brotherhood than the United States of America.

Dansk Sammensluttet Ungdom—D. S. U. The Association Of Danish Youth, Erik Appel
The Bridge
This year, it has been exactly 10 years since the Association of Danish Youth clubs was initiated within the Danish Church. There most likely were Danish youth groups before 1902, but they had little or no connection with each other. They were missing the spur that unity can give and the strength to be found in solidarity.
The Danish Sisterhood In America, L. M. Hofenblad
The Danish Sisterhood In America, L. M. Hofenblad
The Bridge
The Danish Sisterhood in America is ca. 2 years younger than its big brother, The Danish Brotherhood, as the first lodge, namely “The Christine Lodge” No. 1 in Negaunee, Mich. was organized on the 15th of December, 1883 by Mrs. Christine Hemmingsen, whose husband was a member of the Brotherhood. Consequently, the Sisterhood has now existed for 24 years.

The Danish-American Society (Dansk-Amerikansk Selskab), C .H. W. Hasselriis
The Bridge
The purpose of the Danish-American Society is summarized in concise form in its Constitution: to promote a reciprocal and better understanding of the Danish and the American peoples, to knit closer ties between these two nations, and to advance the interests of both.
The work of solving these tasks is still only in its infancy, so, consequently, this is not a history of the Society.

In addition to the nationally-connected associations listed in the previous chapters, in some cities and towns where DanishAmericans live in large numbers, there are many scattered associations that have no structured national connection.

The Way Of Life On The Farm, Carl Hansen
The Bridge
When one in “the Old Days,” that is 25 years ago, wanted to give the Danish immigrants advice, one would say, “Go to the Central States,” and that was good advice.
