Não Uma Outra República, A Nossa República, Outra, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Não Uma Outra República, A Nossa República, Outra, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Revisões Constitucionais Inconstitucionais?, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha
Revisões Constitucionais Inconstitucionais?, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

“Barbarous Custom Of Dueling”: Death And Honor On St. Louis’ Bloody Island, Mark Alan Neels
The Confluence (2009-2020)
Neels argues that the Army Corps of Engineers inadvertently dealt the final death blow to dueling in the region when it eliminated “Bloody Island,” a sandbar in the Mississippi River which became a favorite venue for duels.

George Champlain Sibley: Shady Dealings On The Early Frontier, Tomas C. Danisi
George Champlain Sibley: Shady Dealings On The Early Frontier, Tomas C. Danisi
The Confluence (2009-2020)
Danisi offers an analysis of Sibley’s time as assistant factor at Fort Bellefontaine under factor Rodolphe Tillier, a man of strong political connections and elastic ethics. Tillier fired Sibley, Danisi argues, because he discovered and revealed Tillier’s shady business dealings while a government official; ultimately, Sibley was exonerated and even promoted to factor of the newly formed Fort Osage.

The Illinois & St. Louis Bridge: An Engineering Marvel, Scribner's Magazine
The Confluence (2009-2020)
This reprint of an 1871 article from Scribner’s Magazine extols the new Illinois and St. Louis Bridge (Eads Bridge today) as an engineering marvel—which, incidentally, it was.
The Strange Case Of The Courts, A Car, And The 1910 Batting Title, Steven Gietschier
The Strange Case Of The Courts, A Car, And The 1910 Batting Title, Steven Gietschier
The Confluence (2009-2020)
Ty Cobb and Napoleon Lajoie were fighting for the 1910 American League batting title right down to the end of the season. Who won was under dispute, and it landed the St. Louis Browns in court. Gietschier looks at the case files involving the Browns manager who was fired over accusations that he tried to let Lajoie win the title—and a new car.

Quem assim fala, assim pensa. É critério infalível.

Lições Do Kiwi, Paulo Ferreira Da Cunha

Many Lohias? Appropriations Of Lohia In Karnataka, Chandan Gowda
Many Lohias? Appropriations Of Lohia In Karnataka, Chandan Gowda
Chandan Gowda
Analysing Rammanohar Lohia’s reception in the spheres of party politics, social movements and literature in Karnataka, it emerges that his impact on electoral politics in the state was not substantial. However, key policy innovations such as Devaraj Urs’ land reforms and pro-backward class policies in the 1970s owed a debt to Lohia. He was also a major influence on social and literary movements in the state. Besides inspiring some of the key leaders of the farmers’ movement, Lohia contributed to the distinctiveness of the dalit movement in Karnataka. His ideas on caste, language and individual freedom also inspired the leading …

Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)
Dear Friends: CLAGS's mission to nurture LGBT scholarship means that we're often looking into the past and into the future at the same time, remembering the queer past as we encourage cutting-edge scholarship. This feels especially true right now, since we're preparing for our 20th anniversary and putting the finishing touches on our historic (in all senses of the word) conference, "In Amerika They Call Us Dykes: Lesbian Lives in the 1970s."

Black Lesbians In The 70s, Shawn(Ta) Smith-Cruz
Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)
During the initial planning session for In Amerika They Call Us Dykes: Lesbian Lives in the 70s Spring Series, there was lack of clarity about the activity of Black Lesbians in the early part of the 1970s. The aim for Black Lesbian Herstory in the 70s: An At Home Tour and Guide to the Black Lesbian Herstory of the Collection was to present information to the lesbian community and increase Black Lesbian invisibility.

Lesbians In The 1970s, Sarah Chinn
Center for LGBTQ Studies (CLAGS)
The 1970s was a period of intense excitement, change, activism, and activity for lesbians. As lesbian feminism redefined what qualified as a "political issue" and challenged every assumption about gender, race, class, ability, sexuality, and any number of other social categories, lesbians of all kinds created cultural, social, political, economic, and regional organizations and networks.

Sobrevivientes Del Holocausto En Argentina: La Importancia De Sus Testimonios = Holocaust Survivors In Argentina: The Importance Of Their Testimonies, Jessica Michelle Katz
Independent Study Project (ISP) Collection
After World War II ended and Nazi’s prisoners were released from concentration camps, labor camps, and ghettos, many refugees immigrated to Argentina, either to live with a relative who had emigrated before the war or because the language was similar, or because life was easier there, among other reasons. Today there are around 800 Holocaust survivors living in Argentina, 450 of them just in Buenos Aires. Despite the efforts of the testimonial project done by Steven Spielberg and the Shoah Visual History Foundation to record oral histories of survivors around the world, including many in Argentina, there is still a …

Será a República socialmente indiferente?
