Never Mind Grendel! Can Beowulf Conquer The 21st-Century Guilt Trip?, Stephen Asma
Stephen T Asma
The writer casts doubt on whether the emasculated Beowulf put forward by J. R. R. Tolkien and in the recent movie version of the story transcends and nullifies the heroic original. He suggests that both Beowulfs may be necessary.

How To Survive The Apocalypse, Stephen Asma
How To Survive The Apocalypse, Stephen Asma
Stephen T Asma
The article presents a guide on how people with skepticism and critical thinking can survive the Rapture and Armageddon. According to the Book of Revelations, the Lord will return to the earth to separate the good and the bad. When the Great Tribulation comes, people have no more time for repentance. The impostor strategy is one way to avoid the Tribulation.
Dinosaurs On The Ark: Natural History And The New Evangelical Museum, Stephen Asma
Dinosaurs On The Ark: Natural History And The New Evangelical Museum, Stephen Asma
Stephen T Asma
This article examines the Creation Museum in Kentucky. Featured at the museum is a replica of Noah's Ark. The author notes that there is some fudging going on to fit all the supposedly transported animals in such a small vessel. According to the museum, the Grand Canyon was not millions of years in the making but appeared after the flood. The evangelical museum is an offshoot of the Answers in Genesis ministry. Ken A. Ham is the director of the museum as well as the head of the ministry. He says that the notion of evolution has done more harm …

Centum Homines: The Prototype Of The Alexander Mosaic And The Military Museum In The Hellenistic World, Peter Nulton
Centum Homines: The Prototype Of The Alexander Mosaic And The Military Museum In The Hellenistic World, Peter Nulton
Peter E. Nulton Ph.D.
Although it is generally accepted that the Alexander Mosaic copies a painting of the 4th Century BCE, the attribution of this prototype has never been settled. Numerous attempts have been made to associate it with painters recorded in Pliny's Natural History, notably Philoxenos of Eretria, and Alexander's court painter, Apelles.
If the painting were the work of any artist whose name survives, as strong a case can be made for Aristeides of Thebes as for Apelles or Philoxenos. Since Pliny's comment that Aristeides painted a battle against the Persians follows his treatment of the works of Apelles, he is likely …

The article discusses the author's experience of touring the Creation Museum in Kentucky, which was opened in May 2007. He met the museum's director Ken A. Ham, and asked him various questions about the art exhibits. He inquired about the capacity of Noah's ark to carry all pairs of animals in it, and notes that the museum is scaling back the universe. He also shared that the biggest challenge facing the museum is making people see the difference in using the present method and one's belief.
Die Scholastische Theologie Im Zeitalter Der Gnadenstreitigkeiten I: Neue Texte Von Diego Paez († 1582), Diego Del Mármol († 1664) Und Gregor Von Valencia († 1603), Ulrich Lehner
Ulrich L. Lehner

Kants Vorsehungskonzept Auf Dem Hintergrund Der Deutschen Schulphilosophie Und - Theologie, Ulrich Lehner
Ulrich L. Lehner
Charles Morerod O.P., bishop of Fribourg, in Nova et Vetera (French Edition), 4/2011.
"Lehner’s extensive research fills a gap in a unique way. He enriches the study of Kant’s philosophy in an as yet neglected field. His detailed research corrects many general judgements and …
The Vincentian Charism In North America, John E. Rybolt
The Vincentian Charism In North America, John E. Rybolt
John E Rybolt
This study examines whether the Vincentian charism exists in North America. The positive answer has to be seen against the backdrop of uniformity vs. adaptation, operative in every province. The specific American experience involved education (universities, seminaries), mission work. These are explained within the American context of size, immigration and geopolitical considerations. Specific American contributions to the Congregation of the Mission are mentioned.
