Archiving The Stories Of The 2018 West Virginia Teachers' Strike, Ian Harmon

In February of 2018, teachers and school personnel across West Virginia went on strike, shutting down schools in all 55 of the state’s counties. As the school year ended, teachers began to reflect on their experiences, and many expressed the desire to have their stories recorded. To answer this need, an interdisciplinary group at West Virginia University began developing a digital exhibit that provides the strike’s participants with a platform where they can share their stories by contributing photos, videos, oral recordings, social media exchanges, and written accounts of the events. The United States ‘Civil’ War: The Forgotten Nation Of Cherokee People And Their Dynamic Wartime Experience, Lauren E. Monkewicz

This paper explores the Cherokee Nation’s experience in the American Civil War. It delves into the impact of the Civil War on the Cherokee Nation and vice versa. Beginning with Relocation and traditional customs and ending with Reconstruction, the paper investigates cultural, social, and political changes brought on by the war in the Cherokee Nation.

Join Lesley students and faculty in a discussion of the leading role Haiti has played in struggles against slavery and colonialism in the Americas and globally; its historic and consistent rejections of white supremacist values and dangerous stereotypes in the contemporary moment; and the lived experiences of Haitians working as artists, therapists, learners, teachers, here at Lesley who draw on pioneering Haitian models of epistemology and ontology—on Haitian sources of strength, community, resilience, and vision.
