Letter dated July 23, 1917 from North Dakota (ND) Attorney General Langer to ND State Food Commissioner and ND Agricultural College president E. F. Ladd explaining that Langer has decided to arrest everyone who sells W. B. chewing tobacco, provided that Ladd has examined the sample Langer has sent him. Langer calls Ladd's attention to a recent Supreme Court case involving a tobacco called W. B. Right Cut chewing tobacco, whereas the sample Langer sent to Ladd is called W. B. Cut chewing tobacco. Langer asks for four or five samples to be purchased in the presence of a witness, to have the witness also sign the package, to send the package to Langer by registered mail, and to present the bill to the board of county commissioners.

Letter from Grand Forks County Sheriff A. F. Turner to North Dakota Attorney General William Langer, in reply to a request from Langer for information on drinks and tobacco being sold.

Turner reports on several drinks sold, but says he can not find W. B. Right Cut tobacco being sold, noting that those who use snuff and right-cut chewing tobacco go to East Grand Forks, Minnesota to purchase it.

The letter is signed by chief deputy Odin Oberby for Sheriff A. F. Turner.
